Gush Etzion Area, West Bank
Roots hosts interreligious exchange, salon-style lectures, open meetings, youth group activities, international speaking tours, and solidarity-activism with Israelis and Palestinians within the Bethlehem-Hebron region.
Roots envisions a social and political reality that is founded on dignity, trust, and a mutual recognition and respect for both peoples' historic belonging to the entire Land. Roots works towards this by creating a local grassroots movement of understanding, nonviolence, and transformation among Israelis and Palestinians.
Engagement with several thousand local Israelis and Palestinians, establishment of a new branch in Jordan Valley, five years of summer day camps, three years of a year-long Young Adult Program. Tens of thousands of inspired visitors have come to our site.
Local-based grassroots work including people-to-people, activism-solidarity actions around local incidents, and affecting discourse from within the dominant narratives can create a local model that can serve as an example and inspiration for two societies very tired of both the conflict and the attempts to end it.
Past volunteers at Roots have created flyers for events, fundraised, and translated from English to Hebrew.
